Mission and Vision
The Montessori Residency Chicago (MRC) empowers teachers of urban schools with excellent Montessori teacher education courses for educators seeking certification at the Early Childhood, Elementary I or Elementary II level. MRC is accredited by MACTE and fully affiliated with AMS. Our programs are led by well experienced instructors, guiding adult learners not only in the Montessori curriculum but also offering a culturally-responsive lens to uplift underserved communities. MRC offers frequent coaching and consultation during practicum teaching, supporting adult learners in their application of Montessori theory and curriculum with the children they serve. Learn more.
Our Mission
The Montessori Residency of Chicago’s mission is to recruit, train, and coach a diverse corps of teachers in underserved schools, primarily in urban areas. The training and coaching program is designed to leverage the Montessori approach’s strengths and offer a relevant, high-impact education in these communities. Our goal is to develop and retain high-quality teachers that push students to reach their greatest potential.
